You bet! Here are my certifications and credentials:
I’ve learned many different tools and strategies to build resilience through my own journey supporting my husband’s PTSD journey.
I use my real-world experience plus my certified training to coach women who are in a relationship with a trauma survivor.
I also believe that besides having walked in your shoes, one of my most important "qualifications" is my ability to help you really FEEL the compassion and empathy I have for your situation. My clients consistently tell me that they feel safe and accepted when they work with me.
Below are a few testimonial comments:
"Carla is very open and non-judgemental. She meets you where you're at and is very open to questions and is really good at re-explaining things in your own language." Valentina
"Carla is very open and honest in a very comfortable and kind of loving way. It makes you not worried about saying WHATEVER to her. She is non-judgemental and makes you see things in different perspectives in a positive way." Carolyn
"Carla is great. She is warm and welcoming and non-judgemental and will help you get to where you need to go without imposing her own ideas on you. She encourages you to just be you." Shauna
"Carla was very authentic leading the group. I didn't know what to expect, but I felt really comfortable and connected the whole time." Kate
Finally, I am exceedingly fortunate to be mentored by several amazing mentors, including one of the most phenomenal women in the Emotional Freedom Technique world — Nancy Forrester.
Nancy is a retired psychotherapist with 30 years' experience; an Accredited, Certified EFT Master Trainer of Trainers; and the founder and Executive Director of NeftTI, the National EFT Training Institute (Canada), through which my Emotional Success Coach and EFT Practitioner training is being completed.
Here is what Nancy has to say about me:
"Carla brings her compassion, deep awareness and a profound set of set of skills to her work with PTSD & CPTSD Partner Support."
Nancy Forrester, Executive Director NeftTI

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or tapping, is an energy psychology modality that is a powerful treatment (and self-help method!) for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and many other conditions. It combines cognitive (brain) and somatic (body) elements, and is an evidence-based therapy — over 100 studies demonstrate its efficacy.
EFT tapping combines theory and practices from many different modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), talk therapy, exposure therapy, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), somatic experiencing, acupuncture and acupressure. It involves tapping on various acupressure points on the upper body to balance energy and reduce physical and emotional pain.
Essentially, the physical aspect of EFT (i.e. tapping) helps to turn off the stress response by sending signals to the brain's 'smoke detector' or fear control centre (the amygdala) that it's safe to relax, while the I heard about EFT for PTSD and read about the work Dr. Dawson Church (founder of the National Institute of Integrative Healthcare) had done to heal veterans of their PTSD through the Veterans' Stress Project.
I’d also found many other studies showing how powerful it was for all types of trauma recovery and mental wellbeing. At a women's business networking event, I met an incredible woman who was an EFT practitioner. My intention in connecting with her was to 'convince' my husband to give it a try. She suggested that maybe I should do the work instead of my husband. Wait.....what??
She knew something I didn't know at the time. She knew that as soon as I started to shift, everything and everyone around me would start to shift too, and she assured me that this was the experience for almost all of her clients dealing with relationship challenges. This is certainly not to say that our situation or my husband's PTSD was my fault, rather, it was an understanding of how hard living with a trauma survivor can be on OUR nervous systems! She understood PTSD and relationships and she knew the patterns that we were stuck in — triggering each other in a never-ending loop of dysregulation. I was in no position to 'help' my partner recover at that point, I was too stuck too, and she helped me realize and face it.
Living with a trauma survivor is hard on our nervous systems too, and over time, our adaptation can cause PTSD-like symptoms. As a PTSD partner or supporter, you also have your own 'triggers' that can dysregulate you — thoughts, feelings and beliefs that throw your system into activation mode.
The more regulated you can stay, the more responsive you can be to your own and your loved one's needs, and the more likely you are to face challenges of post-traumatic stress disorder, operational stress injuries and trauma recovery as a formidable team, not just surviving, but THRIVING. I decided to start the work with her and well, she was right! Suddenly, I was making HUGE strides and noticing HUGE differences in our entire family (I was the only one tapping at the time, but it made THAT big a difference for everyone).
I had major breakthroughs in my own emotional healing, and my husband felt safe enough to continue his own healing work.Again, EFT tapping addresses the mind and body systems in tandem to turn off the stress response (fight/flight/freeze) and enable us to focus on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It integrates more than 40 other helping modalities and has been instrumental for many people struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias and many other challenges. Clearly, it works like a dream for survivor supporters too!!
Again, tapping works by telling the fear control centre or 'smoke detector' in our brain (the amygdala) that it's safe to relax. This lets us use the thoughtful, compassionate and logical parts of our brains to make decisions. Now, instead of reacting automatically out of our survival-based fear responses, we can choose our next action powerfully.
EFT was a gift from the Universe for me, and it is the reason I decided to become trained in Conscious EFT and certified as a Transformational Emotional Success Coach!
It is one of the main modalities I now use with my clients who love and support trauma survivors, and we are getting amazing results. I would love for you to book a 20 minute consultation call or a discounted 60-minute Sweet Relief Session to experience the power of EFT for yourself! I look forward to hearing from you!
